Requiring clients to make appointments
for acupuncture in the drug treatment setting is definitely not recommended.
The optimum clinic is organized on a "drop-in" basis, and allows
a "window of time" for clients to arrive and be treated. The
treatment is offered in a group setting, and the clinician can comfortably
treat twenty or more clients in an hour.
If more than 25 clients start
coming at once, there are two ways to expand the service depending upon
the number of chairs, the size of the room, and other program activities
that are offered. The first is to add an acupuncturist, and the second
is to expand the treatment time.
