Acupuncture
is a flexible, portable, and cost effective service that is commonly integrated
in programs providing outpatient or residential treatment services for addiction
and chemical dependency. However, the service has also been successfully
incorporated in such settings as:
- Community centers providing
public health, mental health, or social services
- Infectious Disease Clinics,
including alcohol and other drug information and referral drop-in centers
- Mobile Van adjuncts for
public health, mental health, and social service homeless outreach programs
- Harm Reduction Centers and
outreach programs (such as those providing needle exchange or HIV testing
services)
- Shelters and Board and Care
settings for youth, elders, homeless, battered women, or persons with
disabilities
- Jails and prisons
- Adult and juvenile probation
and parole group homes
- Public Defender offices
- Private Practice settings
of professionals providing recovery support or addiction services
